Typically this time of the year I venture out to Las Vegas to run the GNC Grip Gauntlet at the Mr. Olympia Expo with my brothers, but this year I skipped the Olympia and traveled to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Always being one to want to add a new destination to my bucket list of travels I jumped at the chance when offered to attend the Navy Exchange (NEX) Customer Appreciation Weekend. The trip was coordinated through NEX and General Nutrition Center. I attended the event with several television celebrity cooks, UFC Fighter Clay Guida, several talented musicians, and two Congressional Medal of Honor recipients. It was a real honor to be included in this group… especially being able to spend some time talking with the Medal of Honor recipients.
My duties over the weekend included taking part in the new GNC store ribbon cutting ceremony, conducting a couple strength seminars and spending the majority of my time talking with soldiers, their families and civilian workers about strength training and nutrition. Of course one of the nutritional supplement products on top of my list was talking about all of the positive strength and recovery benefits one can obtain from daily supplementation with GNC Pro Performance HMB.
I am still training a high volume of front squats. I can really tell a difference in my leg and upper back strength. Believe it or not front squats will make your bench press strength increase….at least this is what I tell the young guys that I coach to convince them to front squat more. Actually the increase in upper back strength that is developed from training front squats will help with the pressing movements. A change in training is also always good for motivation, but I will go back to my traditional training in December in preparation for the 2014 Arnold Classic Deadlift.
Train smart, stay healthy, set your goals high, and don't forget to add GNC Pro Performance HMB to your supplement list! Good luck in meeting your strength and fitness goals!!!
