Time to get in Bikini Shape.

Blog Article ImageWith spring in the air all I can see is relaxing out in the sun and socializing at the sand bar…

However, I have some cardio to do before I let that bikini body come out. I’ve been so focused on increasing my strength in the weight room that I haven’t been as focused on the cardio end.

I even hit a new high this morning with my new love in Olympic lifting.  I get an adrenaline rush from throwing up heavy weight. I push the envelope a little farther every few weeks. This morning I admittedly thought, “Man I hope this weight doesn’t come crashing down on my head!” But of course it didn’t and I even let the press of my hang clean and press linger in the air while I celebrated victory in my head. I really have to thank the support of my team mates with Team HMB and Metabolic Technologies for producing HMB. My good friend and I were just discussing how it has really helped us last night. It aids in my strength in the weight room and even gives me an advantage with endurance since I don’t frequently do cardio.

Nevertheless, when I do cardio I alternate between running, the stairmill, and sprints. The stairmill always gets me; 20 minutes later I look like I just jumped in a pool, and yet I feel like a million bucks. When I am on the treadmill I won’t do anything but a high intensity interval training workout (HIIT). It’s a fast method for fat loss. To do this, I warm up at a jogging pace for 5 minutes, and then I crank up the intensity by adding some incline and a 6 minute mile pace for 1 or 2 minutes, slow to a jog for a minute and repeat this six to eight times. Sometimes, I catch people looking at me in a funny way because I might be the only one in the cardio room who looks like they could keel over at any second from the brutal session I put myself through.

Now that I have finally settled into a routine I am confident that I will see results by the time I step into summer. With only a few months until the sun will be out in full force, I hope everyone is ready to take it on like I will be!
