Summer is Here | Brad Gillingham

It has been another busy spring season watching my youngest daughter compete in club volleyball and my oldest daughter compete in track and field.  Volleyball is now over until the fall school season and track is ending up on a high note. My daughters 4x800 relay team is making a return trip to the State Championship. Several other athletes from the small combined Canby and Minneota team also will be competing at State including the boys 4x800 team.  The amazing thing is that in the day of all-weather synthetic surface tracks this team trains on an old cinder track that has long worn out its functionality.  There are not many cinder tracks left, and the track is basically the old oval dirt surface around the football field.  This has me reminiscing of my old high jumping days in Little Falls, MN.  With technological advances I progressed from the western roll, landing into basically a sand pit with bags filled with foam, to the Fosbury Flop when the school purchased deep foam mats. Hats off to the coaches and athletes that have been so successful over the years! Technology cannot replace hard work and determination.

Jackals Gym has been a very busy place the past month with three athletes getting ready to compete at the IPF World Championships in Finland. Ty Hennen, Luke Klein and Nick Tylutki are all looking very strong and they should all be in a position to claim some medals in Finland.  Good Luck men and safe travels! We also have our summer high school and college athletes back training for their upcoming seasons.  No lack of intensity in the gym these days!

After a couple weeks of recovery following the TSI/Metabolic Technologies Empire Classic Pro Deadlift I have gone back to my 5x5 squat training template, and I am pulling heavy out of the power rack. I am looking forward to competing in Scranton, PA this fall in the USAPL RAW Nationals. This will be the qualifier for the 2016 IPF Raw World Championships. The gym will have a number of athletes competing in Scranton. The intensity in the gym will only pick up more and more throughout the summer and fall.

Train smart, stay healthy, set your goals high, and make sure to add GNC Pro Performance HMB to your supplement list.
Stay Strong!
