Question: “When warming up to your working sets what do you recommend? High reps? Low weight?”
In training I generally warm up by starting with some light stretching and mobility movements. This gets the heart rate up and the muscles warmed up and ready to go. This is followed by low rep progressive sets up to my target weight. The first warm up set might be 3-5 reps but after that it is typically singles or doubles. With the fast pace of IPF competitions the warm up is really reduced to a minimum. My competition deadlift warm up might be 100kg (220)-200kg (440)-300kg (661) with an opener around 800.
