I have utilized the same type of taper most of my powerlifting career. As a Heavyweight lifter I typically always compete on Sundays. My typical training week consists of deadlift on Monday, heavy bench on Wednesday and heavy squat on Friday. I finish training these lifts two weeks prior to competition. The week of the competition I train speed squats and speed bench on Monday along with some general light assistance work. After Monday I rest up until meet day.
