I think it's possible, but can be tricky. Many of the heavy compound movements will use the lower back for stabilization. This can cause the spinal erectors and other lower back muscles to grow slightly. A couple of solutions might be to wear a weight belt on heavy lifts, and to incorporate a little more work with machines. Leg press, glute machine, leg curls, and leg extensions can all help you add size to your legs and glutes without engaging your core too much.
