Looking Forward to the 2014 Season

Blog Article ImageI traveled to Anchorage, Alaska in late October to attend the Alaska Fitness Expo.  What a beautiful place on earth surrounded by mountains, ocean and forest. I definitely plan to spend more time checking out the Alaska wilderness in the future. The Alaska Fitness Expo is getting to be a real big multi discipline event that looks to have great potential for future growth. It included powerlifting, CrossFit, strongman, weightlifting and several other events along with the traditional bodybuilding and fitness show.  I had planned to attempt my 100th competition deadlift over 800 lbs. in the USAPL sanctioned deadlift contest, but unfortunately I had a medical issue come up in early October that restricted me to light exercise for 4 weeks.  I have now been cleared to return to heavy training so I look forward to exceeding that 100 mark at the GNC Pro Performance Arnold Pro Deadlift in March. I better get busy as there are just 15 weeks to go before the 2014 Arnold.

This past weekend I traveled to King of Prussia, Pennsylvania to help coach at a weight training seminar put on by Phil Scarito at his DV8 Fitness Gym.  I can tell you there are not too many better ways to spend a day than to talk about front squats, squats, bench press, deadlift and assistance work with a group of people that are eager to learn about proper form and execution.  I look forward to working with Phil at seminars in the King of Prussia area in the future.

Having had some unplanned downtime I am really looking forward to what might be a very busy 2014 competition year.  I have accepted my invite to the Arnold in March, and I have been invited to the RAW Pacific Cup in Melbourne, Australia in April.  There is a possibility that I could compete in the Masters Class in June at the 2014 IPF Classic Worlds in Johannesburg, South Africa. In July I plan to compete at the USAPL RAW Nationals in Denver.  A possible Pro Deadlift Event at the 2014 Alaska Fitness Expo might follow this event in October.
