Is Your Gallon Jug Half Full or Half Empty

Blog Article ImagePeak Week! Depending on if you are at the beginning or end of your water trick, an empty gallon jug can be cause for jubilation or weeping! But metaphorically speaking, peak week, as challenging as it can be, should be a cause for daily celebrations.

By no means am I saying this is an easy week. Rather it presents a whole new set of challenges. If you love throwing the iron around like I do, it can be frustrating that your strength is diminishing as is your ability to get even a good pump. You can’t train full force and every step is planned based on daily, if not hourly progress. Drinking water goes from a chore to a privilege.  And if you are anything like me, you force down asparagus and dry fish and beef. These are definitely not my finest culinary moments.

But the reasons to LOVE peak week are happening every second, before your ever tired eyes. For starters, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The show! The day to show off all of your hard work and be a rock star for the day! Everyone knows my favorite part of the show is the glitz and glam, so I make it last by scheduling photo-shoots leading into peak week. For me, those photos are proof of my progress, and just the extra motivation I need to push through. Each morning, I take “selfies” and send them to my girlfriends, where we share in the joys of that day’s changes. I also meet with my trainer every morning for final posing practice before going through a depletion workout. Again, the hard work is done, so I can focus just on fine tuning the poses and presentations. This is also a time of rewards. No it’s not the chocolate kind, but the pampering kind like mani’s, pedi’s, and massages! Ask anyone, they are as important to show prep as tanner!

So I urge everyone to not think of this as a hell week, but as a week of celebration and change. Relish in your success and take a million extra pictures to document being in the best shape of your life! Be proud of your journey. For me, having my HMB to keep me recovering is absolutely crucial, especially during the trying times of the end of contest prep. If you haven’t incorporated HMB into your supplement routine yet, you will be amazed at the difference it makes.

So drink that water, strike a pose and get ready for the ultimate celebration of your journey and hard work!
