IPF Open Worlds Countdown | Priscilla Ribic

It’s the week of the big dance, IPF Open Worlds.  They are held on home soil this year in Orlando, FL.  This meet is the best of the best Open lifters (no age brackets) from around the world.  I will be competing in the 72 kg class on Thursday at 12 p.m.

Here is a little rundown of the competition. I am ranked #1 coming into the nominations, although it is very deceiving as my competitor Ana Rosa (Brazil) is only 2.5 kg behind me and is the current Squat and Total World Record holder (a total much higher than her nominated total).  Marte (Norway) is young, hungry and super strong in the squat and deadlift.   Ankie (Netherlands) is a sleeper, moving up every year with a strong, steady total and Yulia (Russia) is the current World Record holder in the bench.

Ana Rosa and Yulia are both former Open World Champions and current World Record holders.  Marte, Jr Word Champion and multi time European Champion

In the US, I have sat pretty comfortably at the top in the 72 kg class.  At Open Worlds, it is a dog fight for a podium finish with the best of the best from around the world competing.  This year is significant because the three podium finishers receive a slot to compete in the World Games in Warclaw Poland next summer. The World Games, under the IOC, are every 4 years following the Summer Olympics and are the highest level of competition for powerlifters.
