Well, I was hoping to be sharing my experience about the Pacific USA Pro Bikini show held in San Diego on August 18th. Due to a tear in my abdominal muscles, I had to withdraw from the competition. It has been a while since I had an injury and the first time it happened close to show time. Although I was very disappointed not being able to compete, it was a perfect reminder to take care of myself and get back on track.
Prior to the LA Grand Prix show in July, I was busy prepping a few clients and myself for the show. I also added my jiu jitsu training the following week. Between the busy schedule and new routine, I was forgetting to stretch daily after practice as I have done in the past.
With the extra posing and lack of stretching, I was off balance and feeling it. My drive and excitement for training lead to ignoring some minor strains in my body, which led to injury.
I’m now taking good care of myself while letting my injury heal. It is an understatement to say that I am so excited to get back to training! I currently go to jiu jitsu class to watch and learn. I also watch the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu DVD’s and read the books. There is plenty of information to learn, so I want to do as much as I can even though I physically can’t participate. I’m still taking HMB to maintain my muscle and will increase my dose once my training increases. Look for me on stage again in two months!
