Fall is Here | Brad Gillingham

For the past 3 years I have been helping out with the strength-training program for the Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) Mustang wrestling team.  We basically break our training down into an off-season training phase and an in-season training phase.  The off season training-phase is a modified version of my standard 8 week template that I use at Jackals Gym. The major exercises are Olympic cleans, front squats, deadlifts, bench press, and back squats along with assistance work.  I also have included the Spiderman, kettle bell swing, and Bulgarian split squat mobility circuit, that I have talked about, as a warm up prior to lifting. At the end of the school year the wrestlers are sent home with this template and are expected to work through it at least one time.  When the wrestlers come back in the fall we run through it the first 8 weeks of training. Two weeks ago we completed our strength testing, plugged new maxes into the program, and last week we started week one.  There has been a tremendous amount of energy in the gym.  The guys have been really pumped up. It is already very apparent that some huge gains were made over the summer.  I am looking forward to seeing all the hard effort pay off when the season begins.

All of the lifting the Minneota volleyball girls did this summer really appears to be paying off as well.  The volleyball girls are jumping higher and blocking a lot more balls on defense.  Great job girls!! We have tried to continue with an in-season 1 day/week lifting schedule this fall when the schedule permits.

Early next month I will be traveling with GNC to Anaheim, California for the NSCA Personal Trainers Conference.  This will be the first time I have attended this NSCA Conference. I am looking forward to the trip.  The following weekend I will be traveling to Scranton, Pennsylvania for the 2015 USAPL RAW Nationals.  I have just a month left to go, so far training has been going well.

Train smart, stay healthy, set your goals high, and make sure to add GNC Pro Performance HMB to your supplement list to meet your strength, energy and recovery needs.
Stay Strong!

Brad
