Breaking Records & PRs

Blog Article ImageLast weekend, I competed in the Battle in the Barn.  It was a USAWA old time strongman event.  I was rather pleased with my performance winning both on most weight lifted and on formula.  To win on formula, I needed a clutch PR lift of 770 lbs. in the dinnie lift.  To put that in perspective, the actual stones are around 735 lbs.

After the meet, I attempted to break the Guinness World Record for most weight lifted by the neck.  I currently hold the IAWA record for the neck lift, so I thought I might as well go for it.  The current record stands at 808 lbs.  I hit good attempts at 874 lbs. and 1000 lbs.  Now I just need to submit my evidence and hope that they accept it. Wish me luck!

Next up will be the USAWA Old Time Strongman Championships in December.  My training has been going good.  I have been hitting PRs, particularly in the heavy, big bar lifts.  I actually have about maxed out my big bar, and may need to get a bigger one!  These lifts put a huge strain on your central nervous system, and it is with the help of HMB that I am able to recover from them on a weekly basis to be able to have good lifting sessions during the week as well.
